Another month, and another instalment of the Mr B’s Reading Subscription Box to unpack. I am so excited for this one, to say this book is suited to me and my reading tastes is an understatement – you’ll know what I mean when I get to it. As always the service has been second to none, and the book arrived in the same timely manner, and with the same attention to detail as previous months. So let’s get into it and check out the book for July.
Beautifully presented as always…

And the book for July is…
TITLE: A Nearly Normal Family
AUTHOR: M. T. Edvardsson
PUBLISHED: 2018
GENRE: Mystery/Thriller

*Synopsis taken from Goodreads*
M.T. Edvardsson’s A Nearly Normal Family is a gripping legal thriller that forces the reader to consider: How far would you go to protect the ones you love? In this twisted narrative of love and murder, a horrific crime makes a seemingly normal family question everything they thought they knew about their life—and one another.
Eighteen-year-old Stella Sandell stands accused of the brutal murder of a man almost fifteen years her senior. She is an ordinary teenager from an upstanding local family. What reason could she have to know a shady businessman, let alone to kill him?
Stella’s father, a pastor, and mother, a criminal defense attorney, find their moral compasses tested as they defend their daughter, while struggling to understand why she is a suspect. Told in an unusual three-part structure, A Nearly Normal Family asks the questions: How well do you know your own children? How far would you go to protect them?

As I said at the beginning of this post, I am so super excited to read this book. It’s a pretty hefty size at 500 pages, which would usually put me off, but the synopsis has won me over. I’m hoping the storyline is engaging enough that it won’t feel like an effort to get to the end. I must say that legal/crime thriller novels are fast becoming a favourite of mine, so hopefully I will still feel this way after reading this one. I’m particularly intrigued by the moral dilemma that a story like this would surely present – where would you draw the line when it comes to protecting a loved one?
