A big thank you to Laura @ Freedom and Flour for nominating me for The Blogger Recognition Award! If you haven’t been over to Laura’s blog before please give it a visit – she has some of the best book reviews I’ve read!

The Rules

  • Do a post to show your award
  • Give a summary of how your blog started
  • Give two pieces of advice for any new bloggers
  • Select at least 15 other bloggers for this award
  • Let each nominee know you’ve nominated them and give a link to your post
Give a summary of how your blog started

It wasn’t long ago that I answered this question in another post so I’ll keep it brief in case you read that one. So, in a nutshell, it took me years to find the confidence to give blogging a try, but once I got going there was no looking back. I experimented quite a lot in the early days with lifestyle content, and quite broad discussion topics, until I finally settled with what I do now which is book blogging. I love everything bookish so I really feel that I have found my niche now.

Two pieces of advice for any new bloggers

Write what you want to write. I think it is easy to look at what other (often more established) bloggers are writing and feel as though that is the key to success. But, in my opinion success comes with fulfilment from what you are creating. Readers will be able to feed off your enthusiasm, and that will keep them coming back.

Establish a schedule that suits you. I wish I had done this when I started blogging. The organisation makes it easier to stay on top of things, and that way everything is a little less stressful, and blogging stays fun.

Now for my nominees

I usually select bloggers that have recently come to my attention, but this time I think I’ll switch it up and pick a couple of blogs that I have been following (and really enjoying) for a while. My choices are:

Joanna @ The Geekish Brunette

Stephen @ Stephen Writes

Pooja @ Lifesfinewhine

Caz @ Mental Health 360Β°

Ahaana @ Windows to Worlds

There’s no obligation to take part of course, but I look forward to reading your answers if you do!

Thanks for reading, I hope that you enjoyed!

  2. Great post. Thank you for your kind words. I really enjoyed reading your advice, especially about success being in the contentment you feel from what you have created. 😊

  3. Write what you want to write is such good advice. I myself use my blog as an escape from my daily ‘work’ writing, and if I didn’t use it to write what I wanted, I’d have gone crazy by now. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Congratulations on the nomination and thank you so much for nominating me! Your advice is awesome- having a schedule helps so much and creating content you love is honestly the most important part of blogging. People know when you are writing for the sake of it and when you’re writing because you love the topic.
