A new series on writing

Today I wanted to talk to you about a new series that I am bringing to the blog.

It’s no secret that I love writing and that I hope to have at least one published novel one day. I actually wrote about it here if you want to check it out. Anyway, recently I have been working on some different ideas and I have found that reading tips and advice from different writers has been both really useful and interesting. So, I’m going to start a series where I share what I have learned, I’ll focus on a different author each time and include what I have found to be their most helpful suggestions.

I’ve already picked out a few authors that I want to include: Roald Dahl, Stephen King, and JK Rowling to name a few, but I’m definitely open to suggestions if there are any writers that you think I may benefit from researching.

Hopefully you’ll enjoy reading the upcoming instalments, and hopefully they will be beneficial to you on your writing journey also. Either way I think it will at least be interesting to get inside the mind of some great authors. The first instalment will be coming next week and I hope you’ll check it out.

Which author would you go to for advice first? As always I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Great idea Jessica, I’m really looking forward to reading this new series! I think one of my favourite authors Margaret Atwood has written quite a bit about the writing process so may be worth checking out? X x x

  2. Lindsey Davis.. Instead of the all too familiar moody loner with a drink problem, her ancient Roman detective is part of a complex, sometimes infuriating, but fundamentally strong family – including his fascinating adopted daughter and fellow detective, Flavia Albia,
In the official companion to Falco, Lindsey Davis includes difficult and heartbreaking experiences in her own life – Painful acquired wisdom, compassion, and a brilliant sense of humour enrich everything she writes. Falco’s a wonderful dad too – even delivers his first daughter.
