My February in a nutshell (2020)

Here we go again, into another new month! I’m a little nervous about it being March if I’m honest, this is the month that I will return to work after my Maternity Leave and now that it’s fast approaching I’m not sure that I’m as ready as I thought I was. More about that in my March roundup though. For now let me tell you about my highs, lows, and standout moments for February.

HIGH

Discovering Wagamama. Have you eaten there? I hadn’t before the middle of February when we went for a family meal to celebrate my boyfriend’s sister’s birthday. I had a look at the menu before we went and with it being very different to my usual meal choices I wasn’t sure what to make of it, but my goodness it was delicious! I loved it so much that I chose it for my birthday meal with my boyfriend as well and it didn’t disappoint then either. I think I have a new favourite restaurant, it’s a shame that it’s at least half an hour up the motorway to my nearest one. Although my bank balance and my waistline will be grateful for that!

HIGH

My little lady has started saying ‘mama’. She hasn’t quite worked out that it’s me yet, there are many other things that she calls mama as well but to hear her little voice saying it is amazing! She’s a right little chatterbox so I suspect she’ll be an early talker.

LOW

After doing so well with my health and fitness in January I did fall off the wagon a little in February. I blamed birthday celebrations but if I’m honest I just wasn’t as committed to it as I had been in January. After all, the birthday celebrations were at the end of the month, not the entire month! I have given myself a kick up the backside though and I’m back focusing on it now so hopefully this will be a high again next month.

LOW

Reading. Well, more specifically reading books from my books I plan on reading this year (2020) list. I had hoped to get another one or two completed this month but I read other things instead, so frustratingly it remains that I have only read two from the list. The review for the first one (Esio Trot) is up already, you can find it here. I promise the other one is coming soon!

STANDOUT MOMENT

It might be cheating because it’s technically three days but if I group it together as my birthday weekend then I think I can get away with it. I celebrated first just with my boyfriend. My mum and dad kindly looked after our daughter overnight so that we could have a night away. As they live in Bristol we booked a hotel on the river, had a meal and a few drinks, and it was so much fun! The next day we got up early, had breakfast and a wander around the shops and then we headed to my parents house to celebrate with a family get together. The day after this was my actual birthday and we had planned to take our daughter to the zoo but it was pouring down with rain again so we had to rethink. Instead we did presents at home, played board games and had a lovely meal and a few drinks, it was a great backup plan in the end. Besides, the zoo isn’t going anywhere, we will save it for when the weather isn’t so awful/temperamental. Overall it was lovely to celebrate turning thirty with all my favourite people and it certainly felt special to have a three day birthday!

How was your month? Any highs, lows, or standout moments that you would like to share? I would love to hear!
