I’m going to start this post with a confession. I had planned to put this one up before the end of 2019, but I didn’t finish writing it and then I posted other things and here we are. As I had written the bulk of it, and because I really wanted to round off my ‘in a nutshell’ series for 2019 I figured why not post it now…even if it is halfway through January!
I really enjoyed rounding up each month throughout 2019 and I thought there’s no better way to round off the series for 2019 than to share my overall highlights for the year.
When I was looking back through my ‘in a nutshell’ posts I couldn’t believe how many moments I had forgotten, which goes to show how posts like this are such a great reminder/reflection tool.

Giving birth
Ok so maybe not the actual birth bit but seeing my daughter for the first time was not just a 2019 highlight but a life highlight. There are no words for how I felt in that moment! Read more here

Meeting my newest nephew
Exactly two months before my daughter was born my newest nephew arrived, he’s such a smiley and happy baby, a real joy! Read more here
My friend giving birth
I was lucky enough to have a friend of mine pregnant with her first child just like me at the same time as me, (she gave birth just over two months after I did). Meeting her little man was so amazing and a real 2019 highlight. Read more here
Employee of the year
I was awarded Employee of the year right at the beginning of 2019. I’ve worked my current job for a long time and it was lovely to get this recognition because I always try my best at work. This award was a lovely boost to see me through my final few months before I started my Maternity Leave. Pregnant and working a job where you’re on your feet for 8 hours a day is not the easiest! Father’s day

Christmas
It was the first Christmas in many years which I didn’t have to work, it was the first Christmas that I could spend with my partner, and it was our daughter’s first Christmas. These three reasons had set it up to be a memorable one and it definitely lived up to the hype. It was busy, tiring and involved lots of travelling but it was so worthwhile! Best Christmas ever!
