My October in a nutshell

It’s that time again, a new month, so I’m going to share with you my highs, lows, and standout moments for October. I hope that you enjoy reading! All my roundup posts for this year so far will be linked at the end if you haven’t already checked them out and would like to.

As always I would love to hear how your month was, so please leave a comment if you would like to!

HIGH

I finally did it. I read Crime and Punishment this month. It’s been on my list for the longest time, but as I have already shared I just didn’t get around to reading it…until October. I must admit that it wasn’t the easiest read but overall I did really enjoy it. It was the final book on my books I plan on reading this year list and I’m really pleased that I picked it up in time. I wont say too much more here because I will probably do a review post on it soon but yes, it was a great read. Have you read it? I would love to hear your thoughts if you have!

My daughter has really stepped her engagement up a gear or two recently. She is turning into a right chatterbox and I love it! I can see that she is really starting to communicate now, yes it doesn’t make sense to me but knowing that she is having her version of a conversation with me is so heartwarming and rewarding!

Halloween! I love Halloween, and it was a great one this year. I got to see lots of lovely children high on sugar and proud of their costumes knocking my door to trick or treat and I must say they all had the best manners, it was so cute! I also helped to sew a costume for my stepson which he was chuffed with and that felt great. He stopped by our house with a friend of his and it was clear how made up with his outfit he was. Finally, I got my daughter a ‘My first Halloween’ pumpkin onesie and she looked absolutely adorable in it!

HIGH

Lots of coffee dates. You’ll be aware by now that I love coffee so when I get to catch up with friends over a coffee I get to have two of my favourite things in one. With a pumpkin spiced latte on the menu this time of year it’s even better!

LOW

Ok, so bear with me on this one because it is going to sound a bit silly. I ripped my favourite jeans. I have, or rather I should say had this one pair of jeans that fit just right, went with everything in my wardrobe, and were beyond comfortable. They weren’t expensive and I have had them for years and I must admit they were definitely getting worn out. Well, October was the time that they finally gave up. I’m not entirely sure how it happened I just know that I put them on one day and they were fine and by lunchtime they had ripped. I’m going to replace them but still, I wish I didn’t have to. I loved those jeans. Do you have an item of clothing that you feel the same way about? It can’t just be me surely?!

STANDOUT MOMENT

The end of October brings the birthday of one of my nephews. He turned two. My sister did a family party for him and it was so adorable! Seeing his little face light up when she brought his cake in was amazing! Once he had worked out what his gift from me was he loved it which was also so cute to see. It’s so funny how they have no idea what it is when it’s in the box…that doesn’t stop them enjoying ripping off the wrapping paper though.

And there it is, my October in a nutshell. October was a brilliant month, lots of highs and fun times. It went by so fast though! I’m happy that it’s November now though, because that means it’s nearly Bonfire Night. We are going to a local event and I can’t wait!

How was your October? Are there any highs, lows, or standout moments that you would like to share? I would love to hear!

Thanks for reading, I hope that you enjoyed!

  1. Glad you enjoyed Crime and Punishment (more than I did!)
That’s a pity about your jeans, however they lasted a good while 🙂
I once left a favourite pair of trainers on a train and they didn’t turn up at lost property either end, I was really quite upset.

    1. I wouldn’t put it on a favourites list but yes I did quite enjoy it, it’s a relief to not have it staring at me from the bookshelf anymore haha. They certainly did, I was due to replace them a long time ago! Oh no, I always hand things in if I come across them so what a shame that didn’t happen for you with your trainers…I’m glad you understand my point though haha 🙂 thanks for commenting 🙂

      1. It’s always good to get something read that’s been on the shelf for a long time! 🙂
I left my trainers because I swapped to smart shoes for a job interview and forgot to take the trainers with me! And I was told that either the cleaner would throw them out, or a tramp would take them :/

      2. It certainly is! I have quite a few more unread books to attempt to get through now haha. Oh no, what a nightmare! To throw them out is bad, items should always be handed into lost property unless they are not fit for purpose. I hope you got the job after all that?
