Ok, so before I get into this, can I just start by asking where did April go? This month flew by didn’t it?
April was another pretty quiet month for me but that’s not to say that I didn’t have highs, lows and standout moments that I would like to share with you.
I hope you enjoy reading!
HIGH AND LOW
My blog and social media engagement. The beginning of April began with a major blip with regards my engagement online. I didn’t post anything anywhere and I don’t know why that is. I won’t go into too much detail on this because I actually wrote a post about it which you can read here if you haven’t already and would like to. However, as quickly as the blip took hold, it went away again and I found my motivation and drive to get back on top of things. This is why I have put this into a high and low because it was a firm negative at the beginning of April but I am happy to report that I have managed to end April with it back in my highs. Do you follow me on instagram and pinterest? If not, please follow the links and check them out, hopefully you will like them!
HIGH
Last month I shared with you that I hadn’t managed to read a book from my books I plan on reading this year list. The reason that I didn’t was simply that I was reading other things that I wanted to read more. Anyway, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t read a book from the list and I really didn’t want April to finish the same way so I prioritised reading one of the books and I’m happy to confirm that I managed it. The book I read was The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. Have you read it? I won’t share my reactions to it here because there will be a review blog post coming soon! I will say however that I have already started another book from the list so hopefully this goal will make my May highs as well!
LOW
Hay fever. Anybody else struggling at the moment? It doesn’t matter how old I get I will never get used to my nose being both totally blocked and running like a tap at the same time! Also, don’t get me started on only being able to make it two paces outside before my eyes are streaming! This might seem a little dramatic, actually, very dramatic but I must admit it has got me down a little bit this month. Luckily I only really suffer in the spring months so it shouldn’t be too long before the worst is over.
HIGH
This one might seem a little strange after I have just complained about hay fever but I have been really enjoying the lovely weather that April brought! Hay fever aside I love spring and April has seen spring get into full swing where I am. How has the weather been where you are? I was so inspired by the arrival of spring that I wrote a blog post about it. You can read it here if you would like to.
STANDOUT MOMENT
Towards the end of the month we celebrated a birthday in the family. My boyfriend’s son turned 13. He is extremely proud of reaching his teens! When asked how he felt now that he is a teenager he responded: ‘old’. I thought to myself, you have no idea! It made me smile though to hear him say that because I’m pretty sure that is exactly what I said when I turned 13. We went to Caerleon in Newport, South Wales the day before his birthday to check out The Roman Fortress Baths and have a picnic. The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time, in fact it was so warm that I ended up with an unwanted souvenir from the day…a patch of sunburn on my chest. The next day (his actual birthday) we had a party with presents and games and again it was really lovely! I think everybody had a little too much sugar but if you can’t indulge at a birthday party then when can you?! My boyfriend made such an effort to ensure he had the best birthday weekend and all the hard work definitely paid off! I admit I’m a little biased but he really is the most fantastic father, I’m always proud of him but I was particularly proud during this weekend. Oh, and the cake just below? Yes, my boyfriend made it and yes it tasted as delicious as it looks!
And that’s that, my April in a nutshell. As I said it was a pretty quiet month for me but I’m quite grateful for that because May is going to be a busy one!
How was April for you? Any highs/lows/standout moments that you would like to share?
Thanks for reading!
Until the next time…Jess x
