So, before I say anything please let me wish you all a Merry Christmas Eve! I love Christmas Eve, all the anticipation reaches fever pitch and everybody is excited and happy. Part of me loves it more than Christmas Day itself. What are your thoughts? Anyway, as there is just enough time to squeeze in a festive post I thought I would share this one. Hope you enjoy!
I don’t know about you but I feel like Christmas jumpers are a bit of a Marmite thing. What I mean by that is that you either love them or hate them. Maybe that is a bit of a generalisation but I am yet to come across somebody that thinks they are alright (is that person you)? Instead, I find people chuck one on at any excuse or roll their eyes and look for any reason to not have to wear one! Which camp do you belong to?
I’m definitely in the first group, I love a good Christmas jumper! I like the fun slogans and prints and I like the fact that you can go for a really understated one if you want to participate but without drawing too much attention to yourself. I also think that Christmas jumpers are a great way to get you in the mood for the festive season, much like a Christmas tree or a present wrapping session. But, do you want to know the top reason why I love a Christmas jumper? Because I can wear it on the big day and it means that I don’t have to stress over my Christmas Day look but it still appears that I have made an effort/am getting into the spirit of things! Win win in my eyes! Oh yeah and did I mention that they are so comfy?! I always size up so that I feel extra snuggly, which is perfect for the cold weather! Wearing one also means that I can easily move around whilst giving and receiving presents and I can have an extra roast potato or two and everything stays hidden!
After asking a few people that I know hate them for their reasons why, I got everything from “oh, they’re just so cringe!” to “it’s just not my thing” or “I’m too old, I’ll look stupid”. Personally I dispute all those reasons. For me, Christmas is supposed to be fun, so what many will call cringe I call cheerful and enjoyable! I shoot back to “it’s just not my thing” with how do you know unless you give it a go and if you have given it a go then maybe you just haven’t found the right one for you yet…don’t give up! Lastly, age is not a barrier to having a good time, so you can never be too old for a Christmas jumper!
They are so popular nowadays that you can find one to suit any budget/colour scheme/interest so get one, throw it on and take a second to recognise how it makes you feel a little more festive and a lot more smiley!
What are your thoughts on Christmas jumpers?
Until the next time…Jess x
